Lime from Italy, built up by hand and burnished until it shines. Written into architects' drawings. Trusted on listed and commercial projects.
No skimming, no general plastering, no subcontracting. Every wall is applied and burnished by hand by people who do it every day.
Supplied by Zavorè, who import it from Italy. We know exactly what is in the tub, and we would not use anything else.
We have worked on a Grade II* listed building, which is the highest listing grade there is.
Made for your wall before you commit to anything. You choose the finish in your hand, not from a photograph.
Once it is signed, it does not move.
Our projects, photographed on the day they were finished.
Five stages, in writing, before we start. Nothing happens that you were not told about.
We find out what the wall is made of and what the room has to cope with, and tell you which finish will suit it before we quote.
A panel on your own wall, in the real finish and colour. It stays with you until you have decided. Nothing is agreed before that.
Preparation to protection, every part on its own line, in writing. Once signed, it is the number.
Floors and joinery covered, dust controlled, coats built up and burnished to the sample. Cleaned down at the end of every day.
Snags walked, aftercare explained, and a surface that improves with age. We stay reachable.
Marble dust and aged lime, burnished to a mirror. The finish most people picture when they say Venetian plaster.
A coarser marble aggregate, left matt or taken to a low sheen. More forgiving across a large wall, and it ages better.
Seamless, waterproof and thin enough to go over existing tile. Bathrooms, wet rooms and floors.
Moroccan lime, compressed with a stone and sealed with soap. Seamless and water-resistant, which is why it ends up in showers.
The softest of the six. Cloudy, chalky, brushed rather than trowelled. A whole room in limewash reads as calm.
Real metal particles that oxidise and patinate as they age. Bronze, brass, copper, iron.
We are a Birmingham firm, and most of what is in our gallery is within twenty minutes of the studio. We have worked in the Victorian villas of Edgbaston and Moseley, the Arts and Crafts houses of Harborne and Bournville, the converted factories and new apartments of the Jewellery Quarter and Digbeth, the big inter-war semis of Hall Green and Sutton, and the bars and restaurants in the centre that refit every few years.
In the older houses we work in lime, because that is what the wall is made of and a lime finish is both the correct material and the better-looking one. In the Jewellery Quarter conversions and the city-centre bars we go the other way: microcement over whatever the last fit-out left, and polished plaster on a feature wall that has to survive a Saturday night.
Everything about how we work — the samples, the fixed price, the six finishes — is on our main Venetian plastering page. This page is about Birmingham.
We cover the whole of Birmingham and the towns around it. If your address is not listed, ask anyway.
Photograph the wall, tell us roughly how big it is, and you will hear back within one working day.
If you need any help, feel free to get in touch. We are happy to answer anything about finishes, timings or price.
