Genuine Italian lime, applied by hand and polished with the trowel. Specified by architects. Trusted on commercial and heritage work.
We do not skim, we do not take general plastering, and we do not pass work on. Decorative lime, applied by hand, is all we do.
It comes through Zavorè, who import it. We know what is in it because we have asked, and we have never found a reason to change.
Including a Grade II* listed building, which is as high as listing goes.
Made before you commit to anything, so the decision is made with the finish in your hand.
Agreed before we start. Signed means settled.
Our projects, photographed on the day they were finished.
Five steps, the same every time. You always know what happens next.
On the phone or on site. We check what the wall is made of and what the room has to put up with, and say which finish will cope.
Your finish, your colour, your sheen, on a panel you keep and look at for a few days. Nothing moves forward until you say so.
Preparation, materials, labour and protection, each on its own line. Nothing buried in a day rate. Signed, it stays signed.
Floors, joinery and furniture covered first. Dust kept down. Coats built and burnished to match the board. The site is cleaned every evening, not just the last one.
A walk round for snags, a note on looking after it, and a surface that gets harder and better with age. We answer the phone afterwards.
Lime and marble flour, worked to a mirror. The classic Venetian finish, and the one that shows every flaw in the wall beneath.
A grainier marble plaster, matt or softly burnished. The one most rooms end up with, because it forgives and it lasts.
Two millimetres of seamless cement over whatever is there, tiles included. Floors, bathrooms, showers.
Lime compressed with a stone and sealed with olive-oil soap, as Morocco has done it for centuries. Made for water.
A brushed lime paint rather than a trowelled plaster. Matt, cloudy, calm.
Metal particles applied like plaster and ageing like metal. Bronze, brass, copper and iron.
We work across Nottingham, and three parts of it keep us busy. The Park Estate, a private Victorian estate of large villas beside the castle. The Lace Market, where the warehouses have become apartments, offices and restaurants. And one of the better hospitality scenes outside London, from Hockley to the cocktail bars around the Market Square, which refit often and want walls that are talked about.
In the Park villas we work in lime, because they are lime through and through. The Lace Market conversions have flat modern substrates where polished plaster and microcement are easy. In the bars the brief is usually a bar front or feature wall in Marmorino or liquid metal, worked at night.
Everything about how we work — the samples, the fixed price, the six finishes — is on our main Venetian plastering page. This page is about Nottingham.
We cover the whole of Nottingham and the towns around it. If your address is not listed, ask anyway.
Photograph the wall, tell us roughly how big it is, and you will hear back within one working day.
If you need any help, feel free to get in touch. We are happy to answer anything about finishes, timings or price.
