Lime from Italy, built up by hand and burnished until it shines. Written into architects' drawings. Trusted on listed and commercial projects.
We do not skim, we do not patch, and we never pass a job to someone else. Lime finishes, applied by hand, are the whole of what we do.
It comes through Zavorè, who bring it in from Italy. We know what goes on your wall because we know where it came from.
Architects write us into their drawings. Our work includes a Grade II* listed building, the highest listing there is.
Three of them, in your colour and finish, made for your wall. You decide with the finish in your hand.
Written down, itemised, agreed. After it is signed, it does not change.
Three of our own projects, as they were handed over.
No mystery, no drift. Most projects run to this shape, and you know the next step before you take the current one.
A call or a site visit. We look at the substrate and how the room is used, then tell you which system actually suits it.
A panel in your exact finish, colour and sheen, made for your wall and left with you to live with. Nothing proceeds until you have signed it off.
Itemised in writing: preparation, materials, labour, protection. Nothing hidden in the rate. The number does not move once agreed.
Floors and joinery protected, dust controlled, coats built and burnished to the sampled standard. Clean site every evening.
Snag walk, aftercare guidance, and a surface that keeps improving with age. We stay reachable afterwards.
Marble dust in aged lime, burnished until it shines like stone. The finish most people mean by Venetian plaster.
Coarser marble in the mix, finished matt or with a low sheen. Forgiving on a long wall and better with age.
Thin, seamless and sealed. Over tiles, on floors, in wet rooms. The modern one.
Moroccan lime, polished with a stone and sealed with soap. One continuous surface, which is why it suits showers.
Brushed lime, chalky and cloudy, with almost no sheen. The softest of the six.
Real metal in a plaster binder. It tarnishes and patinates the way metal does. Bronze, brass, copper, iron.
We work across St Albans and Harpenden. The old centre is Georgian and earlier around the cathedral and St Peter's Street, in a conservation area, and around it is a ring of Edwardian and 1930s family houses in Fleetville, Marshalswick and out towards Harpenden. The money that commutes into London tends to spend on the house, and a lot of that is spent on interiors.
In the Georgian centre we work in lime to the conservation specification. In the Edwardian and 1930s houses the usual request is a feature wall in polished plaster, a Marmorino hallway, or microcement in a refitted bathroom. We check what is beneath the skim in the older houses before anything goes on.
Everything about how we work — the samples, the fixed price, the six finishes — is on our main Venetian plastering page. This page is about St Albans.
We cover the whole of St Albans and the towns around it. If your address is not listed, ask anyway.
Send a photo of the wall and a rough size. We reply within one working day.
If you need any help, feel free to get in touch. We are happy to answer anything about finishes, timings or price.
