Everyone notices the walls first

Italian lime by hand, burnished by trowel, nothing sprayed. Architect-specified. Trusted on commercial and heritage work.

02 Why Finest Plastering

Why us, in five lines

ILime, and nothing beside it

No general plastering, no skim coats, no subcontractors. The people on your wall do this every working day and nothing else.

IIGenuine lime from Italy

Supplied by Zavorè, who import it. We have used it for years and we know exactly how it behaves.

IIITrusted by architects

Our work is specified on drawings, and includes a Grade II* listed building, which is as high as a listing goes.

IVThree samples, made for you

Your finish, your colour, your wall. You choose from boards you can hold, before you commit.

VFixed, in writing

Every line agreed before we start. The total does not move once it is signed.

04 The process

Start to finish, in five steps

No mystery, no drift. Most projects run to this shape, and you know the next step before you take the current one.

Day one

We talk

A call or a site visit. We look at the substrate and how the room is used, then tell you which system actually suits it.

Week one

Your sample

A panel in your exact finish, colour and sheen, made for your wall and left with you to live with. Nothing proceeds until you have signed it off.

Week two

Fixed quotation

Itemised in writing: preparation, materials, labour, protection. Nothing hidden in the rate. The number does not move once agreed.

On site

The work

Floors and joinery protected, dust controlled, coats built and burnished to the sampled standard. Clean site every evening.

Handover

Yours

Snag walk, aftercare guidance, and a surface that keeps improving with age. We stay reachable afterwards.

05 The finishes

The six finishes we work in

Polished plaster

Aged lime and marble flour, worked until it reflects. The glassiest of the six, and the one people mean by Venetian plaster.

Marmorino

Marble aggregate with a bit more grain, matt or softly burnished. Kinder across a big wall, and it wears in rather than out.

Microcement

Two millimetres thick, seamless and sealed. Goes over tiles, takes a floor, and does not mind a shower.

Tadelakt

The Moroccan one: lime, a polishing stone and olive-oil soap. One continuous surface, which is why it lives in wet rooms.

Limewash

Brushed, not trowelled. Chalky, cloudy and almost without sheen. Four walls of it make a room feel quiet.

Liquid metal

Actual metal in the finish, which tarnishes and patinates like metal does. Bronze, brass, copper and iron.

06 Stratford-upon-Avon

Finest Plastering in Stratford-upon-Avon

We work across Stratford, where the buildings are Tudor at the core, Georgian around them, and in a conservation area from end to end. It is also a town whose economy is hotels, restaurants and bars, so a great deal of what we do here is commercial: dining rooms, hotel bedrooms and receptions that have to look like the price on the menu.

In the older buildings the walls move and breathe, and a rigid finish cracks. Lime plaster moves with them, which is why it was there originally and why we put it back. In the hospitality fit-outs the brief is usually a polished plaster feature wall or a bar front in Marmorino, worked overnight so the room is trading again by lunch.

Everything about how we work — the samples, the fixed price, the six finishes — is on our main Venetian plastering page. This page is about Stratford-upon-Avon.

07 Questions

Things people want to know

Are you local to Stratford-upon-Avon?
Yes. We work across Stratford-upon-Avon, from Alveston out to Bidford-on-Avon and Welford-on-Avon, and a job here is planned as a single visit rather than stretched across weeks.
Can you work in a trading hotel or restaurant in Stratford?
Yes. We work overnight or around service, with the room protected and cleaned down before trading resumes, and the programme is written down before we start. Most of our hospitality work is done this way and the guests never know we were there.
Where does it start?
On your wall, with a sample panel in the real finish and colour. You live with it, you sign it off, and only then does anything else happen.
Can the price go up?
No. It is itemised in writing before we begin, and once it is signed that is the figure.
How long are you on site?
Three to five days for one feature wall, because each coat needs to cure. Bigger work is planned as a block with the dates fixed in writing.
Will it wear out?
The opposite. Lime keeps hardening for years after it goes on, so the wall is tougher at ten years than at one. It does not chip or peel.
Do you do commercial jobs?
Yes. Bars, restaurants, hotels and offices, usually worked around trading so the room is back in use the next day.
