Following the heartfelt transformation of one side of the former Mercedes dealership into a stunning wedding hall, our next exciting venture was to convert the other side of the building into a magnificent buffet restaurant named *Naya*. This project held special significance as it continued the journey of revitalising a space with a personal connection to me.
For this part of the building, my team and I chose a completely different aesthetic. Instead of the marble finish used in the wedding hall, we opted for a bold rock-effect plaster, creating a unique and striking look for the restaurant. The scale of this project was more extensive than the wedding hall, encompassing two floors and a total surface area of 200 square metres.
Creating a Bold Atmosphere with Rock-Effect Plaster
For *Naya*, the vision was to craft a dining space that exuded luxury while remaining inviting, with a dramatic flair. To achieve this, we selected a rock-effect plaster finish to cover both floors of the restaurant. This textured effect introduced a sense of raw, natural elegance, perfectly suited to a contemporary buffet setting.
The decision to paint the rock-effect plaster black added depth and drama to the space, imparting a sleek and modern aesthetic. The dark tones of the black finish cultivated a sophisticated atmosphere, while the textured rock effect provided a striking contrast to the smooth, polished surfaces used elsewhere in the building. This interplay of texture and colour transformed *Naya* into a dining environment that feels both upscale and approachable.
A Larger Surface Area, A Bigger Challenge
With the total surface area being 80 square metres—spanning two floors—this project was considerably larger than the marble work we completed in the wedding hall. The scale of the job demanded meticulous planning and execution to ensure the rock-effect plaster was applied evenly and seamlessly across such an expansive area. Despite the challenge, the end result was a dramatic, cohesive aesthetic that flowed beautifully from floor to floor.
A Unique Space for *Naya* Buffet Restaurant
The black rock-effect plaster was selected to imbue *Naya* with a distinctive and bold character. Unlike the light, serene colours of the wedding hall, the restaurant needed to exude vibrancy and energy, creating an environment where guests could relish their dining experience in a striking setting. The textured walls added visual interest and complemented the restaurant’s contemporary decor, while the black finish imparted an unmistakable sense of elegance.
Bringing It All Together
As with the wedding hall transformation, this part of the project held deep personal significance for me. Having grown up admiring the cars in this very dealership, returning as a professional artisan to reinvent it felt like completing a circle. The restaurant side of the building now stands as a bold and stylish buffet restaurant, while the wedding hall next door offers an elegant, refined space for celebrations. Together, both spaces showcase the versatility of Venetian plastering and textured finishes, demonstrating that the right design can completely transform any environment.
The Journey Continues
With *Naya* Buffet Restaurant now open alongside the wedding hall, this former Mercedes dealership has been transformed into a vibrant, multifunctional space. It has been an honour to work on a project so close to my heart, and I am proud of what we have accomplished—creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also meaningful.
